About the Founder
A passionate storyteller dedicated to inspiring the next generation of dreamers and achievers
Laura Fryar is a former AH-64D Apache pilot and the author of the children's book series, Be Something Epic.
In 2005, Laura was commissioned into Army Aviation after graduating from the University of Alabama and has held numerous leadership positions including Platoon Leader, Maintenance and Line Company Commander, Battalion Executive Officer and Operations Officer, Brigade Operations Officer, and Professor of Military Science at Auburn University. Laura is a rated Pilot-In-Command, Air Mission Commander, and Maintenance Test Pilot in the AH-64D. Her awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, 2x Air Medals, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and 3x Meritorious Service Medals as well as the Combat Action Badge and Senior Aviator Badge.
Her deployments include Ballad and Mosul, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Sharana, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She is a graduate of the Aviation Officer Basic Course, Aviation Captain's Career Course, AH-64D Maintenance Test Pilot Course, Joint Firepower Course, and Command and General Staff College. She holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a master's in business administration. She is married to Lt Col(R) Timothy Fryar, Air Force Civil Engineer. Together they have two children, daughter Patton and son Jackson and they reside in Reserve, New Mexico.
